Missions
Making
disciples is the backbone of any church body. Just before Christ ascended
into heaven He commanded us to go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, and to teach them to obey everything He commanded us to do.
A necessary and important part of making disciples is Missions. Therefore,
we at Laurel seek to glorify God through the support and the encouragement
of missionaries who preach the gospel in the United States and abroad.

How
We Choose Who We Support
|
We wish to help
reach non-believers.
We wish to assist
those with whom we already have a connection.
We wish to assist
both foreign and state-side missions.
We would like
to be more involved with a few missionaries rahter than
lightly involved with a number of missionaries.
We prefer to
assist individuals who have less opportunity to raise funds
rather than large organizations that have a greater public
outreach.
We wish to assist
people from our church who are interested in missions.

Ways
You Can Help Support Missions
|
There are several ways to support Laurel's
missionaries:
Pray for them.
Communicate with them by e-mail or letters.
Give financially to them.
Show hospitality to them when they are in
our area.

Keynote seeks to build spiritual movements through
innovative resources and creative communication.
As a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, they partner
with like-minded ministries around the globe to provide
the resources needed to reach and disciple people in
their spheres of influence. Whether it's music,
comedy, short film, the internet, mobile apps, or
training others in using all of the above for
evangelism, the gospel of Jesus Christ remains their
central message. Sam develops strategies and
resources for reaching the "8th Continent" (aka online
communities), and accelerating the spread of the gospel
message in the real world amongst a new generation that
is digitally fluent. While Arlee's primary role is
now full-time mom, she continues to help out at Keynote,
as a resource to our bands and artists as well as taking
on various projects throughout the year.

From time to time you will hear at Laurel the term “Home
Grown Missionaries.” These are individuals who have grown
up in the Laurel Church body and have gone into full- time
missionary service. Arlee, David and Debbie are an extension
of the ministry at Laurel and it is our privilege to support
their passions for God and others.

David and Denise Moore with their children Hannah,
Benjamin, and Asher have moved to Ambon, Indonesia where
they serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Indonesia has more languages without any of the Bible
than any other country and is a very strategic location.
David is serving as the Assistant Regional Team Leader
for the province of Maluku and also as the Assistant
Coordinator for all the work in Indonesia and travels
frequently around Indonesia and to various countries in
Asia. Denise is busy with home schooling and
taking care of the kids and also does some consulting in
the area of Scripture use. |

Debbie,sent
by Laurel to work with ENTRUST in the area of leadership
training since 1984 -- in Eastern
Europe, Romania and in the U.S. What God does, as
a result of this training, whether in Romania or in the
U. S.: Teams emerge, enormously rich in relationship
with Jesus and with others, the impact
of which is: 1) lives are changed; 2) people are helped;
3) ministries emerge; and, 4) it spreads outward and
multiplies. Here in the U. S. God is moving Debbie
to develop a Training System that resources churches in
the Portland area, using Romania and Laurel as a model.
One training group will involve 8-12 women from 4
different churches, who will go through 4 formational
experiences and then apply what they are learning in
their own local church situations.
