In the book of Acts, the New Testament church was devoted to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.  They made a point of being together and had everything in common.  They gave to those in need, met together daily in the temple courts, and broke bread in their homes.  Their commitment to each other met individual needs that a large weekly gathering could not.  It is through the ministry of Care Groups that the elders at Laurel Church have chosen to replicate the New Testament church’s style of ministering, so that individuals can come to know the power of Christ, the truth of His Word, and the blessings of His fellowship.

Care Groups at Laurel Community Church are small groups of 6 to 16 individuals that meet either weekly or twice a month in various host homes. The individuals of a Care Group determine as a group when and where they are to meet. Normally, meetings last between 1 and 2 hours and will include sharing, Bible Study, prayer and food. Laurel’s Care Groups usually begin in September or October and run through May, with some groups having one or more get-togethers in the summer. Individuals give input as to what biblical topics to discuss and how the group will serve in the church and the community.
